Some sessions are special because of the light, the location, the weather, or the season; and some sessions are special because of the people.

Leah and Rahmie’s October couples mini session at Overlook Park was one of those sessions that filled my heart in a way only long-time connections can. Overlook Park gave us the most beautiful fall backdrop with colorful fall leaves, multiple areas for backdrops, and that crisp autumn air that makes everything feel a little more magical.

However, what truly made this session stand out was the history behind it.

Leah and Rahmie aren’t just clients. They are two of my closest friends, and I’ve had the absolute joy of watching their love story unfold from the very beginning. I’ve been friends with them while they were dating, celebrated alongside them during their engagement, and even stood by their side as part of their wedding party. This was actually the third time I’ve photographed them as a couple, which made it feel extra meaningful.

Leah was one of my very first friends after I moved to the Lancaster area back in 2016. That alone adds a layer of nostalgia to every photo I take of her, but seeing her and Rahmie together, settled into this beautiful season of life, felt really special.

During our session, we did what felt most natural. We caught up. We talked about life, how things have changed, and I filled them in on my kids and everything motherhood has brought into my world. Leah and I also spent time talking books and what we’ve been reading lately, and yes, there is something fun and fantasy-related we’re working on together that I cannot wait to share more about soon.

Sessions like this are such a good reminder of why I love couples photography so much. Couples sessions are not about stiff posing or forced moments. They’re about connection, laughter, quiet moments, and letting love show up exactly as it is. Leah and Rahmie made that effortless, just by being themselves.

Photographing friends can sometimes feel intimidating because you want to do their story justice. But this session felt easy, comfortable, and full of warmth. It reminded me how powerful it is to capture love at any stage, whether you’re newly dating, engaged, married, or years into building a life together.
