High school is a time filled with unforgettable moments, and one of the most significant milestones is capturing the essence of your senior year through stunning senior pictures. When you first enter high school, I know it seems like four years can be a long time. Trust me though, before you know it your high school journey will come to an end. That's why it's crucial to plan ahead and start the process of selecting a senior picture photographer during your junior year, ideally between January and April of your junior year. Two of my class of 2024 seniors, Emilee and Alexa (some of their photos are featured in this blog!) were my first bookings in 2023. Both reached out to me and booked their session in March of their junior year! I've listed some reasons below behind the importance of early research and how it can make your senior photo experience truly memorable.

Senior picture photographers often have busy schedules, especially during peak times like late summer and early fall when many seniors want their pictures taken. Last year, July through November were my busiest months. In fact, I booked out some months early in the summer. By starting your research in junior year, you have a better chance of securing a slot that fits into your schedule and allows for a more relaxed and enjoyable photoshoot experience. With Alexa and Emilee booking in the spring of junior year, both of them secured a date during my most requested month (August). Now, you don't need a set date this early, but it's a plus if you know what specific date you want. In the case of Emilee and Alexa, Alexa knew an exact date in August which I secured for her right at booking. Emilee requested a specific time frame (early-mid August); in this case, I made sure to keep dates in that timeframe available for her and we settled on a specific date in June. Booking early also ensures that you can choose the perfect time of year and location for your photos, whether it's a sunlit flower field or a vibrant urban setting.

2. Personalized Experience:

Every photographer has a unique style, and finding the right match for your vision is essential. Researching early allows you to explore different photographers' portfolios, ensuring you find one whose style resonates with you. Whether you prefer a classic and timeless look or a more contemporary and creative approach, taking the time to research in junior year allows for a personalized and tailored experience that aligns with your individual taste. 3. Budget Planning:

Quality senior pictures are an investment, and planning your budget well in advance is crucial. Researching photographers during your junior year gives you ample time to discuss pricing, packages, and any additional costs that may arise. If you book early, you can begin a payment plan versus paying a larger sum all at once.
