There is nothing like a summer evening at Country Joy Flowers in Elizabethtown, PA, especially when it is for a senior picture session with Marissa, one of my Class of 2026 senior reps. This is hands down one of my favorite senior picture locations in central Pennsylvania because not only is it gorgeous, it's also peaceful. Country Joy limits the number of photographers allowed at a time, which means fewer people around, no waiting for beautiful spots, and a more relaxing atmosphere. In order to maintain this limited access, Country Joy does require photographers to make a reservation ahead of time so be sure to book this location early.

Located on a working farm, the property is full of beautiful backdrops for flower field senior pictures in Elizabethtown PA, from colorful zinnias and bright sunflowers to romantic hydrangeas and my personal favorite, the eucalyptus hoop barn. There is also a vintage truck and a charming little white greenhouse, both perfect for adding variety to a central PA senior session gallery.

Marissa is a kind, helpful, passionate soul. She loves helping people and has big plans for her future, hoping to become a physician’s assistant, potentially going to college somewhere in the South; she's especially interested in Auburn University. At Northeastern High School in York PA, she is heavily involved in the Mini-THON program, and she dreams of expanding this program to the South, where it is not currently active.

For her senior pictures, Marissa brought three outfits that each showed off a different side of her personality. She started in a white dress and cowboy boots, a nod to her love for 90s country music which she grew up listening to in her home. Next, she switched to a white blouse and colorful, flowing patterned pants that brought so much movement, fun, and whimsy to her photos. Her final look was a classic with which you can't go wrong: jeans paired with a black blouse.

The weather could not have been more perfect, 80 degrees, sunny, and just the right amount of summer glow. The week before had high heat, so we we're both incredibly thankful that the weather was much nicer than it had previously been. Since this was my second time photographing Marissa, the session felt relaxed and easy from the very start. Her mom, Melissa, joined us and even hopped in for a few sweet mother-daughter photos at the end. Melissa admitted that picking a date for Marissa’s senior pictures was hard because she did not want to admit her youngest was already a senior. As a mom, I totally get this.

We wrapped the evening with a little treat. I brought strawberries for Marissa which are her favorite and she had already discussed going out to eat with her mom after the session. It was the perfect ending to a beautiful summer evening in the flower fields of Country Joy Flowers.
