As a mom of three boys, I understand that guys might not be as excited for their senior pictures and are maybe only doing them because mom asked (just take the photos for mom, please). So my goal is to make these senior picture sessions as enjoyable and relaxed as possible, even for the guys . Whether you’re looking for relaxed and cool, or something a little more creative, here are some of my go-to poses for guys that always deliver:
1. "Wash Your Hands" Pose
No, you’re not actually washing your hands—but this pose gets its name because it mimics that motion. Rest your hands together, like you’re rubbing them, and keep your shoulders relaxed. It’s a natural and laid-back pose that gives off effortless confidence. Pair it with a slight smirk or a glance off to the side for an even cooler vibe.

2. Squat Down
This pose has a casual, edgy energy that works in almost any setting. Squat down with your elbows resting on your knees, keeping it loose and relaxed. You can look straight at the camera for a strong, confident shot or gaze off into the distance for a more candid feel. Bonus: It’s also great for showing off your shoes!

3. Sitting Pose
Sitting poses are a classic choice for senior pictures, and they’re super versatile. You can sit on steps, a bench, or even directly on the ground. Keep one knee up, lean back slightly, or rest your hands on your knees to mix it up. Whether you’re aiming for laid-back or sharp and polished, we’ll tailor the sitting pose to match your vibe.

4. Hands (or thumbs) in Pockets
The hands-in-pockets pose is simple yet powerful. It’s perfect for showing off confidence without feeling too posed. Slide your hands into your pockets but leave your thumbs out for a more relaxed vibe, or just hook your thumbs into your pockets for a casual, cool look. This pose works well standing or even leaning against a wall or fence, making it a versatile favorite.

As a senior picture photographer, I use all of these poses (and more!) during my senior picture sessions. Are you ready to book your own session? I'm currently booking through the end of 2025. My schedule is open for both the Class of 2025 who want a spring session and the Class of 2026 that want a Summer or Fall session. Let's chat!
