One of the things I love most about senior sessions is helping you find little ways to make your photos feel personal and unique. As a senior picture photographer, I've found that one of the best ways to make your senior photos feel like you is by adding personal touches. What's a super simple way to add a personal touch? Bring a prop along! Whether it’s something that represents a hobby, your style, or just something you love, bringing along a prop (or two!) can take your session to the next level.

Props are such a fun way to show off who you are, what you love, and what’s been part of your high school journey. Whether you want to keep things low-key or go all out, here are a few of my favorite prop ideas to spark some inspiration:

1.Instrument

Are you in band, orchestra, or just love to jam out in your free time? Bring your guitar, violin, oboe, whatever you play! Not only does it add a cool personal touch, but it also creates such a natural and relaxed vibe in photos.

2. A Favorite Hat or Accessory

Props don’t have to be big! A wide-brimmed hat, special jewelry, or even your go-to sunglasses can bring out your personality and add some variety to your gallery. Accessories can totally change the look of an outfit and give your session that extra pop of style.

3. A Jacket

A jacket might not seem like a “prop,” but hear me out; bringing along a jacket offers a quick and easy way to switch up your outfit without a full change. Whether it’s a denim jacket, a cardigan, a varsity letterman, or something thrifted and cool, jackets can be styled in different ways and give your photos some variety.

4. Sports Gear

If you play a sport, bring along something that represents your team or position. A basketball, soccer ball, tennis racket, bat, cheer uniform, or even your jersey can make for some fun and action-packed shots. We can go full athlete mode or keep it casual. Perfect for making it all about your vibe.

A Few Final Tips:

Don’t overthink it! Props are just here to enhance the session, not take over.

Make it meaningful. The best props are the ones that reflect you.

5. Cap & Gown (for spring sessions!)

If you want to do one final session before graduation, this one’s a no-brainer. We’ll grab a few classic graduation shots, but we’ll also play around with cap tosses, walking away shots, or even draping the gown over your shoulder for something a little more modern. PS: While I generally don't offer mini sessions outside of my set mini session dates, I do offer graduation minis on any date in April-May (availability depending on schedule).
