When seniors book with me, there are a few questions I like to ask to help plan our session. Questions like: What do you want your session to look like? Are there any locations you've been dreaming about? Are there any specific ideas for the photos?

For Lindsay, the answer was pretty simple. She knew she wanted a field of flowers and golden light.

So when it came time for her Class of 2027 senior session, we headed to Wildflower Lookout in Lancaster County for an evening surrounded by flowers and, thankfully, some beautiful summer sunshine.

Lindsay is a senior at McCaskey High School, and I was so excited to get her in front of my camera for her senior pictures. We scheduled her session for the end of August, and while most of the day had been sunny, the few hours right before her session had turned pretty cloudy. Thankfully, the weather pulled through for us as the sun came out during the last two hours of the day, creating the perfect conditions for an evening session. We lucked out with temperatures around 80 degrees and got to enjoy that beautiful late-summer light that makes everything feel a little more special.

Lindsay started her session in jeans and a white top, which gave us a classic and timeless look to begin the evening. I love starting with an outfit like this because it gives us plenty of opportunities for natural, relaxed senior portraits. Jeans also allow for a wider range of standing and seated poses, which can be a great way to ease into the session and get comfortable in front of the camera. We wandered through the flower field, stopping in different areas and taking advantage of all the pretty flowers and golden light.

For her second outfit, Lindsay changed into a beautiful brown maxi dress. The color of the dress looked so pretty against the greens and wildflowers, but my favorite part was what we could do with it. A flowy maxi dress is basically an invitation for movement, so we took advantage of it. We played around with walking, twirling, and letting the dress move while the gorgeous evening sunset created a stunning backdrop behind her. These movement shots ended up being some of my favorites from her Lancaster senior pictures. There's just something about a little movement that can make senior portraits feel more natural and less posed.

I love connecting with all of my seniors, and I always like to ask what they're planning for life after high school. Lindsay has some pretty exciting plans for her future. She's hoping to attend college in Florida to study marine science. Going from Lancaster to Florida is definitely a big change, but I love that she already has an idea of what she wants to pursue after graduation. I can't wait to see where that path takes her! Outside of school, Lindsay is involved in youth group at her church. She loves hanging out with her friends, especially when they're getting coffee, shopping, or doing crafts, and she also enjoys spending time with her pets.

And because I always like to know what my seniors are listening to, I had to ask about her music. Lindsay is a fan of both Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo, so naturally, we jammed out to both during the session.

Lindsay's session at Wildflower Lookout was the perfect combination of a beautiful Lancaster County location, a gorgeous summer evening, and two outfits that gave us completely different looks. From the classic jeans and white top to the movement-filled brown maxi dress, we were able to create a gallery that feels like a true reflection of this season of her life. I think we managed to check both boxes for her dream senior pictures: golden light and flowers.

I'm so excited for Lindsay as she heads into her senior year at McCaskey High School and eventually heads south to Florida to pursue marine science.

Congratulations, Lindsay! Here's to an amazing Class of 2027 senior year and all the adventures waiting for you after graduation!
