If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be part of my senior rep team, this session is the perfect embodiment of the program.
On Friday, April 10th, I met up with three of my Class of 2026 reps, Marissa, Morgan, and Arabella, for a creative group session at Overlook Park in Lancaster. The weather was one of those perfect spring evenings, warm, high 60s, golden light, the kind of night that makes you happy winter is over.
For this senior rep session, we added color. Lots of it, which you just know I love. I had my team show up in jean bottoms and white tops, which acted as a blank canvas at the start. Within minutes, that changed as paint powder started flying through the air. Literally. It was tossed, thrown, and even blown, creating these bright, colorful clouds around them as well as spattering the girls in a fun, messy art form. It was perfect for my color loving, creative heart. But my favorite part? Every single time paint hit them, they just lost it laughing. Not the posed kind of smile. Not a fake smile. The real kind. The uncontrollable laughter that you can feel in the photos. That’s what made this session so special. There was no pressure to be perfect. No overthinking what to do in front of the camera. It was just a time to be in the moment and have fun. Those are the images that are incredibly special.
We chose a field at Overlook Park for this session. I wanted a space with open areas and a good view on the sunset. For this session, being able to create something fun like this while still respecting the space was really important to me. The paint powder we used is biodegradable and naturally washes away with the rain, so we could fully enjoy the experience without harming the environment.
Creative sessions like this are one of the biggest perks of being on the senior rep team. This was actually the Class of 2026's third group shoot together this year. We started back in June with our full team session, then met up again in February for a vintage-inspired record store shoot, and now we followed up with this colorful, chaotic spring session. Each session is a chance to have an unforgettable senior year, in a no pressure environment. Your senior year isn’t one-dimensional, and your photos shouldn’t be either. By joining a senior rep program, you get the classic, beautiful senior pictures, but you also get moments like this. The fun, creative, joy-filled memories that you’ll look back on and instantly remember exactly how it felt.
In truth, this session has me so excited for more paint sessions. Because if there’s enough interest, I would love to start offering sessions like this beyond just my rep team. Think paint powder, or even a white sheet backdrop setup with washable paint and paint brushes. Something creative, enjoyable and completely unforgettable.
If you’re part of the Class of 2027 and you’re starting to think about senior pictures, this is your sign. The senior rep experience is about so much more than just photos. It’s about stepping into your confidence, making memories, and being part of something that feels fun and meaningful during such a big season of life. If sessions like this look like your kind of thing, you’re going to want in.
PS: If you’re thinking, “Okay wait this looks so fun, but what would I even wear for a paint session?” I’ve got you. Paint sessions are meant to be messy, bold, and a lot of fun, so your outfit should match that energy. The go-to look for this session was simple: jeans and a white top. There’s a reason for that. White acts as the perfect blank canvas and allows the colors to really stand out in photos. The more color that gets thrown, the more your outfit transforms throughout the session.
Here are a few tips if you’re planning a paint session of your own:
-Start with light or white clothing This helps the paint powder show up the best and gives that dramatic, colorful effect.
-Wear something you don’t mind getting messy. Even though the paint is washable, this is not the session for your favorite top. Think of it as part of the experience.
-Keep it simple; basic outfits photograph best for this. Jeans, a tank, a tee, or even a simple dress can work perfectly. The paint becomes the statement.
-Bring a backup outfit or at the very least a towel for the car ride home. You’ll want something clean to change into after or use the towel to keep your car from getting messy.
-Go minimal with accessories. The color, movement, and emotion in the photos will do all the work.
At the end of the day, this kind of session isn’t about looking perfectly put together the entire time. It’s about letting go, having fun, and watching your photos come to life in a way that feels completely different from anything else.
